Picked up these so-wrong-they're-right almost-vintage platform sandal things this weekend. There's something we do in NY - everywhere, but especially here - where we take things so ugly, so anti-fashion, so unlovable and make them fashion. During a time when everyone is touting the return of the (kind of uncomfortable) single-soled heel, there's been something comforting about NYers like Garance (x2) and Sean (here again) talking Birks as fashion.
I think there's room at the table for another hideous shoe. I'm not forsaking all the ultra pointy pumps I just bought but I'm not done with big, heavy shoes, either.
You know how I'm drawn to things just ugly and interesting enough to be hot.
