You may have noticed I've been nostalgic about my hometown lately. Although there are a ton of things I love about Long Island, like bigger apartments and closeness to tag sales, I've been missing the Bk way lately. I don't even know if the Brooklyn I loved as a kid really still exists but, at the very least, I can enjoy the things that remind me of it. Like this 55 Dodgers jacket. (My 7th grade Social Studies teacher never could shut up about the Brooklyn Dodgers and corn dogs and all that jazz.)
We grew up dreaming of extra trips to The Big City...
And we learned about how the (then) NYCTA was cleaning up the subways and getting rid of the gangs so we could all ride on it. I had a coloring book about it.
We wore pretty things and hung out at Riis Park beach and looked for seashells.
And built castles in the sand and hid our food from seagulls.
And picked wild flowers growing between the cracks in the sidewalks.
