Quick Trip to Annapolis & Bowie, Maryland

Spent Thursday and Friday in Annapolis for my grandmother's burial. It was a nice, simple ceremony with bagpipes and she was buried with my Uncle Pat where I am sure she will now rest in peace. We visited their old house in Bowie, where I spent a few summers when I was very young but I only remember watering plants, running up and down some very ugly brown carpeted stairs, and going to church every Sunday. (My grandmother was fairly religious.) Anyway, we mainly reminisced and had a good time in Annapolis and Bowie, and saw some people I remembered and some people I didn't. We ate lunch after the burial at Rip's (how fitting).

My mascot (and the Hubbs's surrogate) came with:

The Bear loves the Shocktop.

We hung out in the bar in our hotel for quite some time. It was at the Doubletree, where I would not recommend you stay if you're looking for the usual, friendly Doubletree/Hilton experience.

Downtown Annapolis is very adorable and I would love to have more time to explore on another trip. My mother-in-law, my sister, and I ate dinner at Cafe Normandie and it was heavenly:

scallops and basil risotto at Cafe Normandie

duck magret and rice cake at Cafe Normandie

My sister works very close to Annapolis so I'm definitely going to be back. I want to re-visit a store called Lou Lou, where I only had five minutes to look around before they closed for the evening.
