Blue Velvet and the $7 Lace Dress

I decided it was high time I take advantage of my current backyard which, uh, has a dock for a yacht. Wait... you can all see the yacht, right?

We've got crabs. Or, parts of them. The seagulls drop them all over the yard.

I've been on a see-through clothing kick lately. There was the sheer red dress. Now there's the sheer cream lace dress. I got this dress a few months ago at Urban Outfitters. I talked them into giving it to me for $7. It was an online item that was supposed to come with a slip underneath but someone returned it to the store and it ended up separated from its slip and shoved, unmarked, into the clearance section. I had to have it. So. After a lot of waiting and confusion and also niceness, they found a slip dress in their inventory that looked vaguely like it for $15 and, when they rang it up, it was on sale. No backsies. Woot!

Wearing: blue velvet blazer by Laundry by Shelli Segal, $2 at an estate sale; floral corset, $40 at a Ren Faire outside Houston, TX; sheer lace dress, $7 at Urban Outfitters; brown leggings, $4 at Filene's Basement; cream-colored socks, $1 at Target; red velvet platform heels by Jeffrey Campbell; drawstring bag by Furla, for sale on the Poshmark App for $45; feather earrings via the Swap Market; three-strand necklace from an estate sale, $15.

  1. Your yacht dock is almost as cool as your outfit! Love that you got that dress for so cheap!

    1. Isn't it?! In the season there's an actual yacht.
